To prove that community organizing is not all fun and games, today I have to admit a mistake I made that has at least temporarily robbed ✨ product qties ✨ of its admittedly adorable logo.
I used a Figma sticker that I wrongly believed was covered by a Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY 4.0) license, which would have allowed it to be used as part of the visual identity for the community.
Luckily, I had enough common sense to ask Figma directly for their opinion on this. They unfortunately came back saying the sticker is copyrighted, and it is not permitted to use it for the purpose I intended.
So I've now removed it from all instances. Unfortunately, that meant deleting a bunch of LinkedIn posts, including all the ones announcing the community and the upcoming event, which I have to admit was really hard. It basically meant scrubbing all the posts I shared about it.
While this does feel like a setback, and definitely cost me a couple of hours of peace and quiet, the show must go on!
